Not too much makes me mad. Sure, I get frustrated sometimes or irritated at someone, but ask most people that know me and they’ll tell you I’m a pretty “laid back” guy. It takes a lot to make me “fightin’ mad” as we like to say in the southern US.

Until now.

Did you know?

  • That two children are sold every minute?
  • That at some brothels menus are handed out offering children as young as six or seven years old?
  • That an estimated 27 million people are enslaved around the world?

That makes me mad. Not just irritated, but the “I-want-to-punch-something” kind of mad.

But getting mad isn’t enough. These children need someone to take action. They need rescue, not sympathy.

That’s why I’ve joined the Tread on Trafficking campaign with Love146. While I have no idea where to begin tackling this issue, Love146 is already doing it. They have aftercare safe houses to help victims recover. They are active in prevention measures such as border monitoring and education. They have been involved in this fight since 2002.

I’m asking everyone I know to make a gift to Love146. My personal goal is to raise $2000 during the months of May and June. If you want to test my resolve, how about taking this challenge? I aim to walk 100 miles during these two months. That is more than I have walked all this year. (I’m at 71 miles for the year. And only 2 miles thus far in May.) Will you donate 20 cents per mile? That would be only $20 if I hit my target. What about 50 cents? Or 10 cents? Or even make a flat donation, anything will help. Will you join me? http://Love146.kintera.org/tread/chuckallen

  1. Certainly a worthwhile cause, Chuck. Are you only looking to fundraising, or are there other supportive activities you’ll be taking up? Curious about your process.

    1. Hi John. For May and June I’m only helping with fundraising. I’ve been researching their programs, though, and plan to go and help at some point in the near future. They have several different ways to get involved. I’ll be posting more as I get more involved and see areas where I can help.
